This blog is for me and my students to talk about the demons that can be found in cyberspace. They're demons because they are the nasties that are in this virtual world, with the intent of making other inhabitants unhappy - the ones that don't deserve it that is.
Which begs the first set of questions. Are there any people in cyberspace who actually deserve the attention of trolls, ogres, tyrants, monsters, fiends, brutes, beasts or any other wicked things. And if so, who decides?
Those that want to behave badly as Trolls should set up their own site instead of bothering others.

ReplyDeleteI believe that if someone wishes to post blogs that are disrespectful, unsensitive, distasteful or blatantly ignorant, then yes - they do deserve the attention of 'trolls' and the like.
ReplyDeleteAs for who decides - no one does. Blogging is about free speech. Although this contradicts the previous sentence, people may feel strongly of their opinion and may not be deliberately opposing the blog. Therefore it's a matter of opinion.

ReplyDeleteWell if you post blogs about anything you have to realise that anyone in the world can read it and some people are going to feel strongly against it or find your post highly annoying, so if you can post it in why can't people post their opinion about it all though it is negative.

ReplyDeleteif they are expressing views which are discriminating or hurtful to anyone then they deserve negative responses from trolls. If they are simply expressing an opinion they do not deserve abuse from someone just because the opinion is not shared.

ReplyDeleteTrolls are ever present, they are sometimes found in large groups such as the idiots from 4chan.. The best way is to avoid communication and hope they get bored and dissapear. Or if you're really smart, troll them back with more vindictive words. ;]
